Like my friend Beast, I’ve been tagged by Squidly to post the 6th photo from the 6th page of my Flickr stream. Unfortunately, it’s not even “my” image. Not to mention, I don’t really use Flickr any longer because of all their issues with protecting copyrights (or lack there of). Anyways, the photo is a scan of a vintage racing photo taken at Shangri-La Speedway in Owego, NY from the 70s.
Vintage Racing Image
I guess I’m supposed to tag six more bloggers to post their images as well, but like Beast and Squidly, I don’t know that many so I’m going to forego that part of the game. Sorry!!
I really haven’t posted much on my blog here over the last month or so. I admit it, I’ve been wasting my blogging time on Facebook! However, I hope to get back to cleaning up this site a little and I’m thinking of doing an introduction to iRacing with some screenshots and videos in the near future. What is iRacing you ask? Well that’s why I’m going to write the introduction!
Additionally, I’m still working on some things for my Racing Historian site, as well as starting another site for my photography that is more general and not just auto racing. I recently picked up Painter X and hope to get a digitizing pad in the near future so I can begin experimenting with converting some images to “paintings”.
Not a whole lot. We were on staycation this past week and did some miscellaneous work around the house and managed to spend 7 hrs washing / waxing / detailing both our vehicles. I also went to the SVRA historic races at the new NJ Motorsports Park last weekend. I only went down for one day but still had a good time walking the track and scouting out locations for the Grand-Am weekend coming up the weekend in August. Yep, I’ll be on staycation again the first week of September. Actually, we do plan to go down to the Jersey shore for a couple of days.
Other than that, I’ve just been doing a little iRacing (I need to find more practice time!), working on some images in Lightroom 2, getting ready for the class(s) I’m going to be teaching starting in September, and working on some miscellaneous projects I’ve been trying to get going. I just switched my Racing Historian site from being hosted on my own server over to SmugMug using a Pro Account. It’s still a work in progress but I think it’s coming along nicely – even though quite slowly!
Time to go get ready to jump back into the swing of things at work tomorrow. Later.
Cheryl and I decided to go to the Zoo yesterday and I took the camera along to snap away with. We had a good time and had alot of fun walking around and seeing the variety of wild life. Next time I will definitely bring a small step ladder so that I can see above the fencing and take some shots of the Elk & Bison on the preserve.
This is a pretty cool technology that gives you a 360 degree view of the imagery around you. Place your mouse on the video, click and move it around. You can view other videos at the Immersive media.
I’ve been coveting this thing for well over a year now! It’s a Zuiko 50-200mm lens for my camera. The 35mm film equivalent length is 100-400mm. Throw on my EC-14 1.4x teleconverter and this thing will go long to 560mm. Now, it should be fun for me to hand hold this puppy at the races. I might be using that tripod collar and my monopod a little more often than I like….
