I want one!

From Fox News:

It weighs only 30 pounds and can be fully weaponized for assault and rescue. It has a 6-foot jet-wing that is steered with handheld rotary controls connected to its rudder. And it can hide more than 100 pounds of combat gear in a built-in compartment.

When I have too much disposable income…

I thought some of you out there who haven’t decided what to get me might need a suggestion? So please allow me to offer one up for you.

That should-would-wood be sweet for my sim racing setup!

Another “I want it!”…

I’m a slave to redundancy when it comes to my data. With Photography & Digital Imaging using Lightroom & Photoshop, I love my backups. I have an “archive” drive on my main pc which I use synctoy to automatically synchronize with my personal FTP/File Server. It works OK for me and has been a very reliable system to date – although not quite as reliable since I needed more space so I’m no longer in a raid mirror situation on the FTP/File Server… BUT… “I gotta get me one of these!”

Drobo

The Drobo:

  • Drobo guards everything on it.  Drobo combines up to four hard drives into a big pool of protected storage. Start with two, grow to four, then upsize smaller drives-get Terabytes of protection.
  • Drobo manages storage, so you don’t have to.  Just connect Drobo to your Mac or PC. No RAID levels. No management or configuration. Drobo does everything for you. Get rid of multiple external drives. Avoid the complexity of RAID. Attach a Drobo storage robot to your system and let it manage your storage so you don’t have to.
  • Drobo upgrades capacity on-the-fly.  Add drives to Drobo at any time. Mix ‘n match capacities, brands or speeds. No downtime, data migration, or waiting to access new capacity. Drobo works the way you do.
  • Drobo lets you “pay as you grow”.  Hard drives get bigger and cheaper all the time. Don’t buy storage capacity until you need it. Buy capacity “just-in-time” possibly saving you hundreds of dollars.

File this one in the “I didn’t know it existed, but I can’t live without it!” category

Working in the Financial Services industry for the last 12 years and being the Compliance and Fraud Officer, as well as handling our institutions ATM network and Online Banking program, I’ve come to be what I would consider an above average knowledge base for frauds of various types. I am even a past member of the ACFE (Association of Fraud Examiners). That does not mean that I always do the proper thing when it comes to securing my personal information! I believe there are times when you just have to balance the risk and rewards in terms of your identity and personal information and let the cards fall where they may. But this post isn’t really about Identity Theft and Fraud protection. No.. this post is about “I WANT IT!” And that ‘want’ refers to the IronKey.

IronKey

  • Fast 30MBPS Read, 20MBPS Write
  • Drive contents encrypted with AES CBC-Mode Encryption
  • Onboard IronKey Password-manager keeps all your internet passwords safe
  • Secure version of Firefox included that encrypts all your web-surfing traffic
  • Encased in a potted metal case, not plastic, making it one of the strongest USB keys around
  • Exceeds MIL-STD-810F military waterproofing standards
  • The encryption chip self-destructs if an invasive attack is detected
  • If your Ironkey is lost, you can restore from a secure backup to a new Ironkey in minutes
  • Dual channel SLC NAND Flash for high-quality and read/write speeds
  • Windows XP and Windows Vista only, but Mac and Linux drivers are in development

The preceding list is from ThinkGeek – where you can pick up one of these slick devices from $79.00 – $149.00 depending on the memory size you choose. As if you couldn’t have deducted this already from my post… “I gotta get me one of these!”
