Miscellaneous Musings…

I just got a new Motorola Q9c on Saturday.  I’m pretty impressed so far and happy with it’s features.  I probably won’t be synching much in terms of calendar, to-do, etc since I still have my Palm T/X and use Palm Desktop.  I did, however, setup my Gmail account using iMap so I’ll always have access to my email.  I ended up getting a data plan and a text messaging plan since my wife gets a discount on services through her employer.

Additionally, I was hired as an adjunct faculty at a college in New Jersey.  I’ll be teaching two classes as long as there are enough people registered for them starting in early September.  I’ll be teaching Risk & Financial Management the first session and Financial Planning & Institutions the second session.  I’m pretty excited about the opportunity as it’s something I have been thinking about doing for some time now.

It’s been a somewhat busy summer, but fall is going to be much busier it looks like!

My Precious…. Olympus Zuiko 50-200mm

Olympus Zuiko 50-200mm

I’ve been coveting this thing for well over a year now! It’s a Zuiko 50-200mm lens for my camera. The 35mm film equivalent length is 100-400mm. Throw on my EC-14 1.4x teleconverter and this thing will go long to 560mm. Now, it should be fun for me to hand hold this puppy at the races. I might be using that tripod collar and my monopod a little more often than I like….

This time, it’s an “I got it!”

I just recently purchased a QuickSwap TRUE SATA II 3Gb/s Speed Direct Connect Hard Drive Swap System for my primary rig at home. What this is going to allow me to do is quickly swap out the hard drive in my system so that I can start playing with VISTA without worrying about partitioning, dual booting, etc. and messing up my current XP setup.

I currently have a complex setup in how I do my Digital Photography/Imaging and my backup system routine. So I want to be able to experiment on VISTA and encounter/identify/fix any issues before I make the complete switch over. Knowing that all my most important applications work properly on VISTA is a huge issue that I need to explore.
