Astros playing fairly well… Flyers vs Penguins

Ξ May 11th, 2008 | → 0 Comments | ∇ Houston Astros, Philadelphia Flyers |

Professional baseball has been on my ‘back burner’ of interests for probably the better part of a decade.  Certainly since the last labor strike – even though I was thrilled when the Astros made their very first World Series appearance in 2005.   But to say I follow it ‘closely’ would be somewhat of a stretch, much like hockey and the flyers – although I certainly read the box scores regularly for baseball.

Coming into this season I wasn’t expecting much of the Astros with a pitching staff with nothing but Oswald in the rotation.  However, it’s been a pleasant surprise to see them playing fairly well and the Killer B’s have been replaced by the Killer BLT (Berkman, Lee, Tejada).   I was also impressed with Hunter Pence last season and although he was off to a slow start this season, he’s starting to come around.  Berkman has been nothing but on fire over the last month as the ‘Stros offense has been putting some runs on the board.

I hope the Flyers can have a competitive series against the Pens – but I’m not sure if they can keep pace with them or not, but they are now down 2-0 in the series and Pitt is probably the better team and ’should’ win the series.

Another weekend down and a week closer to the first vacation of the year.  I’m ready for it!
