A warning about revenge and jumping to conclusions…

If you are thinking about plotting and getting revenge on someone, not that it is ever a good idea or recommended, you might want to make sure there is actually a reason behind doing so.

Well that was painful….

The Green Bay Packers absolutely demolished the Seahawks 42-20, and that was after spotting the Seahawks a 14-0 lead in the first 5 minutes of the game. For most of this season, the Seahawks defense has been pretty solid with good QB pressure and good tackling. Today, it had no pressure on Favre and the tackling was absolutely horrendous. It would be easy to blame it on the snow, which is when the game starting going bad. When the field started getting slick, it seemed to nullify the Seahawks speed on defense. Again, that would be the easy explanation but I’m afraid the Packers were just the better team and the Seahawks still have work to do.

On the note of needing improvment, it may be more complicated as my gut feeling is that Mike Holmgren is going to retire / resign. If that happens, it will be interesting to watch to see if they hire Jim Mora, Jr. or what route they take in replacing Holmgren. The ‘Hawks offense is really built around the West Coast philosophy and that is what Hasselbeck knows best. Changing systems could mean and/or require a significant shake up. I do not see the Seahawks going that route though.

It was a good season. Any season where you don’t win the Super Bowl is falling short, but we’ve never won the Super Bowl so any time the ‘Hawks make the playoffs further than the first round is a good season.

OK – When does racing start? Bring on the 24-Hours of Daytona!

HAWKS WIN!

Not only did the Seahawks defeat the Washington Redskins 35-14 on Saturday, but if you listened to all the pre-game hype and the announcers repeated mantra, we also defeated Sean Taylor and God himself.  (The irony being we won by 21 points – Taylor’s number.)  I realize the Taylor murder is a tragedy and the affect on their team – but it was getting to the point where you just wanted to smack the hell out of the pundits and announcers much like Madden going on and on about Favre.

Tatupu

The Seahawks defense showed up to play and other than a couple of pass plays they gave up, they hit, sacked, pressured, and generally beat up Todd Collins for most of the game.

The offense, on the other hand, was anything but sharp.  Hasselbeck seemed to be a bit off, and the running game was nowhere to be found other than a nice run by Weaver in the first quarter.  But they did enough to get the job done and move on to play the Packers in Green Bay next week.  I’m not sure the team can pull the upset without more balance on offense – particularly if the weather is less than ideal.   But I like our chances of our defense keeping us in the game if we can get some offense going.

Go ‘Hawks!!
